Tour Description

The Tout in the city of Puno has a duration of 2 ½ hrs. It begins with the pick up from your hotel in the City of Puno, to then visit the Dreyer Museum. This is a colonial house that was built by the German painter Carlos Dreyer, which currently exhibits Archaeological Samples of Lytic Cultures, such as Weaving and goldsmithing. The most attractive is the sample called “ORO DE SILLUSTANI” (SILLUSTANI GOLD) that consists of 1.280 pieces, of which 501 are of gold, with a weight of 3.782 K. All these pieces of Inca origin probably formed part of the property of some personality possibly buried in the Chullpa del Lagarto, and were found on November 4, 1971. Continuing with the Tour in Puno we will visit the Cathedral of Puno, which occupies an area of 15 thousand square meters. We will learn about the type of construction used which is the finest expression of the Mestizo Architectural current of the eighteenth century, under the direction of master Simón de Asto. We will continue with a visit to El Pino Park, a traditional square in whose western margin is located the Temple of San Juan, where the Virgin of Candelaria, Patron Saint of the city, is venerated. The festivity of this image is celebrated on February 2 and its octave, so famous, a week later when the people of Puno show off their greatest Folkloric Decorations. Finally we will visit the Handicraft Market of Puno.
